| Swami Dayananda's Bhagavad Gita Home Study Course is an edited transcript of classroom talks of Pujya Swamiji. It is a unique set of 4 books of over 2000 pages which goes comprehensively through all the chapters and verses of the Gita with a word to word translation in English from Sanskrit and an elaborate explanation of Swami Dayananda based on Sankara's commentary. Each verse is unfolded with clarity in such detail as to make the reader feel he/she is sitting in the class room. |

"I am very happy that the Bhagavad Gita Home Study Course will now be available in a book form. But I want the readers to be aware that this is not another book on Gita. Being an edited transcript of classroom discussions, the material is presented to the reader as a program for self-study. If this is borne in mind, while reading, one can enjoy the same attitude of a student in the class listening to the whole process of unfoldment of the content of the words of Bhagavan. The study will then proof to be as rewarding as directly listening to the teacher. This attitude would proof to be atma-krpa. Once this krpa is there, the other two, shastra krpa and ishvara-krpa would follow."

The material of this immense work is based upon Gita classes held during the intensive 3 year course that Swami Dayananda gave to his students in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania from 1986-1989. It is unfolding gradually the entire vision of the Gita. It is the reference book on the Gita for teachers and students of Vedanta around the world. |
